ENFORCING CITY ORDINANCES
Code Compliance Inspectors enforce city ordinances for the following:
- Any illegal dumping of chemicals or waste in storm drains
- City sidewalks that are blocked by:
- Garbage
- Building materials
- Merchandise
- Vehicles
- Vegetation lower than 8 feet above a sidewalk
- Conducting business without a city business license
- Failure to remove hail, snow, or sleet more than 12 hours after the storm
- High grass and weeds over 6 inches tall
- Illegal or dilapidated signs
- Inoperable and unregistered vehicles seen from the street or right-of-way
- Lack of maintenance of live materials, such as lawn and shrubbery
- Litter and debris that can be seen from a street or right-of-way
- Operating a short-term rental without a business license
- Outside storage, such as refrigerators, washers and dryers, and household items
- Recreational vehicles parked on the grass or dirt in the front yard
- Trash receptacles left out more than 24 hours after trash day
- Vehicles parked on lawns and not approved hard surfaces, such as asphalt or concrete
Code Compliance Inspectors do not enforce ordinances for the following:
- Abandoned vehicles parked in the street or right-of-way
- Illegal activity
- Neighbor on neighbor disputes
- Stolen property
- Vehicles parked on street during snow removal months
